Biography
World of signs, memory and living symbols
Geraud B. Cledjo is a Beninese-Canadian visual artist and Artistic Director at Tano Kora Foundation. His work transforms African identity into a living, universal visual language, unfolding at the intersection of memory, childhood, spirituality, and contemporary narratives.
At the core of his practice is a unique symbolic alphabet—an evolving system of signs, glyphs, and codes that structures his entire artistic universe. This personal script operates as both language and legacy, bridging tradition and modernity while reimagining cultural, poetic, and political narratives through gesture, trace, and vibrant, layered compositions.
Cledjo has exhibited internationally, with shows in Montreal, New York, Miami, and Abidjan. His work was featured at the Dakar Biennale 2024 and presented during Miami Art Basel 2024, affirming a singular visual language that resonates across cultures and speaks to a shared human experience.
